For many people caffeine is an itch that they must scratch daily. For
the most part for those who use caffeine each day, they probably use
too much. Caffeine isn't always in the form of coffee, many people
drink too much cola as well. Drinking cola is a double whammy. Not only
does it contain the caffeine but it is loaded with sugar.
That morning cup of coffee to get you going isn't a problem. For most
people it does help wake them up and become more alert. For many, it's
that morning cup of coffee that helps jump start their day and become
more worthwhile. But like anything else if you drink more caffeine than
you should, this can have the opposite effect of what you intend. Too
much caffeine can cause a rebound effect and leave you feeling even
more drained of your energy than when you started out. Additionally,
too much caffeine constantly in your system can cause you to have
problems getting the proper sleep at night. This can become a very big
problem.
Caffeine is addictive. You may not have thought of it that way, but it
is. You can get hooked on caffeine. For those of you who enjoy too much
coffee or too much soda; you know what I'm talking about if you've ever
developed headaches or had the shakes be cause your body is craving
caffeine. These are the symptoms of the addictive qualities of
caffeine. Your body is telling you that it is craving and needing its
next caffeine fix.
Indeed, caffeine is a great pick me up. That morning cup of coffee
knocks the cobwebs off and puts a little extra bounce in your step. The
key is that you use caffeine properly and don't over do it. Side
effects can develop when caffeine is overused. And certainly caffeine
should never be used for a substitute for getting enough sleep.
Particularly in situations where risk is involved such as driving over
the road.
The key thing is to understand the use of caffeine and how to use it
right. If you are a bit tired in the evening, a cup of coffee is a
great way to give you a little pep. If you are going to be using
something dangerous like a chain saw, you should wait until you are
fully alert to operate it. Don't think coffee will make you alert
enough to be able to run it safely. So, you are tired at work. You need
a little pick me up, but don't want to use caffeine. Well, there are
some things that you can do to help you out.
First of all, avoid any food that's high in sugar. Don't grab a candy
bar when you're feeling sluggish. Don't drink sodas at lunchtime. These
types of foods may give you a boost in energy, but the momentary gain
in energy is more than lost when your body crashes from the sugar or
caffeine rush. Instead, try to keep some fruit on hand for when you are
feeling a bit tired or sluggish. An apple in your desk at work or other
fruit that you can easily eat is a much better source of energy and is
healthier for you.
Instead of sodas try drinking choose. This is a much better way to
re-energize your energy level. Juices may be a bit more expensive than
the sodas but they are well worth the money when it comes to your
energy and health. Be creative when it comes to your juice drinks. Try
mixing some of your favorite juices together in order to get a
different taste and avoid becoming bored with the flavors.
A serving of juice will help you regain your strength. It will give you
the energy you need to get through the day. You might also want to
drink juice with your lunch. If you do this instead of drinking sodas,
you won't get burnt out as fast. Energy bars are a great thing if you
have them on hand. Don't get ones that are full of sugar or honey. That
will give you a burnt out feeling. Instead, go with something that is
good for you. I have seen some chocolate covered energy bars, don't get
this. Run like hell from these bars. It is a expensive candy bar.
The important thing is this in regards to caffeine. Have a cup of
coffee from time to time if you are feeling a little tired. Don't let
it replace sleep. Don't think that you can function the same on
caffeine as you can fully rested. Don't think that because you had two
cups of coffee that it is safe to drive your car even if you are drop
dead tired.
