This is true if you think pigs can fly. If on the other hand pigs
travel by walking where you live then you know where I'm getting at.
Time, dedication and fun will make you a great poker player.
Time is a huge part of learning anything. As you know! There are no
quick fixes when it comes to becoming an expert poker player.
This can sound disheartening, but let me reframe it. How fast does time
go when you have fun? Pretty fast, doesn't it? So who cares if it takes
time to get good at poker if you're having a blast doing it? When you
become too serious about anything you will not have a good time. Set a
primary goal of having fun, everything else comes second.
Here's a small list with the most important poker concepts, enjoy!
1. Strategy - You might say that strategy is the most important thing
in poker. How to play hands and be able to do things like bluff,
value-bet and fold in proper spots. Although I think strategy is
crucial, I do not think it can stand on its own. The next point
illustrates why.
2. Emotional Control - If you do not use discipline in your poker game
then you are missing out. This concept will make or break your success
as a poker player. You can be the best hand reader in the world but if
you play bad when you are running bad then you will never win.
3. Bankroll Management - You have to set proper bankroll management
rules. My rules are to have at least 30 buy-ins for each level I play.
When I drop below 28 buy-ins for the level I am playing I move down.
When my bankroll is back to 32 buy-ins for the higher level I go back
up again. For example if you play $400 NL and have a bankroll of
$12,000 (30 buy-ins) but drop to $11,119 (below 28) you move down to
$200 NL until you have $12,800 (32 buy-ins for 400 NL).
4. Game Selection - You need to select good games to play in! There is
no reason to play in a game where you are a loser when you can play in
a game where you are a winner. Pretty logical, huh? :) I see many
professional players play day in and out with other professionals, all
because they are too lazy to select good games.

doesn't have to be hard, you just need proper guidance.
